Adventure is different for different people. Much like the saying, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, one might say that adventure depends on the person’s definition. Adventure to one may be taking 3 children under the age of 5 to the store to grocery shop. Another, might describe it has hiking through a jungle in South America. Still to another it may be teaching a class of 21 kindergarten students.
Personally, I find that in my house and with my life, everyday is an adventure. I just never know what will unfold. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a thrill seeker or a world traveler. I am a mom of 4 children, a wife, a step mom of 3 children, and a small business owner. I live in a small town in Tennessee and work from my house. I’m not particularly athletic or daring, but I can bake a mean pound cake (in a variety of flavors) and I’m not afraid to try something new in the kitchen. I have a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and worked 12 years in the Hamilton County Schools in Chattanooga, TN (I really should have started blogging then… that really was a daily adventure). Now I choose to work at home selling purses, leading a team, and growing a business. I drive what seems like an endless number of miles daily… to volleyball, to cheer, to gymnastics, to football, to baseball, to church, to meetings, to shows, to appointments, etc.
By this point you may be saying, “OMG… there is no adventure here. Its just the ordinary life of some work at home mom (WAHM) who is bored and thinks she will try blogging.” OK, you caught me. I am that person, except for one thing… I do have daily adventures. They may not be the kind that you see in the movies or on TV, but they are real. I am a person who believes that we only have so many days here on this earth, and I plan to make the most of them. I am going to be thankful for the little blessings of being called “mommy” as long as I am. I am going to stop and remind myself that this day is precious and will never be again… even when I am about to pull my hair out. Its an adventure of attitudes, perspectives, and seeing with real eyes the blessings all around us.
I believe that we all have a story to tell. Some are comedies. Some are action packed. Some are tragedies. Mine is an adventure, with a little bit of everything included. I hope that you will stop by from time to time to check out my everyday adventure, and I would love to hear about yours.
I like to live believing that everyday is an adventure and even on the most mundane days… if you look hard enough, you can see it peaking out at you.
“Every man can transform the world from one of monotony and drabness to one of excitement and adventure.”
Let’s go out and seek it!
